TROUBLESHOOTING
* Reset the Memory Disk Cache
In the Memory control panel, you’ll find a setting for Disk Cache. Set your cache so that you have at least 32K for every megabyte of real RAM. (Your RAM count should include only built-in physical memory, not Virtual Memory or other RAM doubling settings). For example, if you have 32 megs of RAM, set the cache for at least 1024K.
* Turn off Virtual Memory
Virtual Memory can interfere with the performance of multimedia programs. You can turn off Virtual Memory using your Macintosh’s Memory control panel. Remember to restart your machine after changing this setting.
* Reset Monitors and Sound
Use the Monitors and Sound control panel(s) to set your monitor to display thousands of colors. Turn up the audio level to maximum. (You can adjust volume within the program itself.)
* Exit other applications while using the program
To make sure you have sufficient memory to run Math Mysteries successfully, quit or exit other open applications on your computer.
* Turn off unnecessary extensions
Systems extensions take up memory. To get the best performance from your system, use the
Extensions Manager control panel to turn off unnecessary extensions. You definitely need the
CD-ROM, QuickTime, and Sound Manager extensions. You may want to save this minimum set for use with other multimedia titles. Restart your computer after changing the extension set.
